re: marlo and the greeks, while waiting for On-Demand to load, it looked like some scenes from the upcoming season were shown during a promo... One of the scenes was Marlo and Vondas sitting on a park bench, I think, and discussing Prop Joe. The snippet of dialogue I heard was Marlo saying "I learned a lot from Prop Joe". (Or something along those lines). This makes me think Marlo kills Joe, or Omar does, because of Cheese giving up where Butchie's bar is.

"the structure of the best tragedy should be not simple but complex and one that represents incidents arousing fear and pity--for that is peculiar to this form of art" - Aristotle

This is my response to the other thread. Like I mentioned it is probably just me and I'm probably wrong (hopefully). But I think I would be more surprised right now if McNulty was redeemed and Bubbles returned to drugs. We know Daniels is going to go down in flames, if you watched since Season 1 you know that Burrell has always held the corruption file over his head and now he is after the throne even though he doesn't want it. Carcetti is in a tailspin because of his desire to be Governor so he has ignored all the promises he made during his campaign and pissed off everybody that can help him. Michael is headed for a fall, simply because he still has a heart and he just got berated by Monk about leaving his corner unattended. There is going to be a showdown between Omar and Chris, especially after what happened to Butchie and will probably involve Omar taking down Cheese and Prop Joe. Although I think you may be onto something with the Greeks.

So I just watched episode 8 and I wasn't expecting that. I knew there was a little foreshadowing when he called Omar a gimp but wow. It was both awesome and depressing at the same time. It looks like you were onto something about the short prequels 2 down 1 to go.

I was really bummed about omar since overall he has been my favorite character. The last episode especially though he'd become a tragic figure. I couldnt image him actually surviving. The message through the rest of the episode that he was a footnote and an afterthought in spite of his legendary status for years spoke volumes about the nature of the game too.

I agree about being bummed Omar was the coolest character ever on TV. I knew that at some point he was going to be killed but after he shot Sorvino I knew it was going to happen sooner rather than at the end. However, I thought it would be in a shootout with Chris and Snoop. But what I like about the Wire is that it doesn't do what is expected. I also like the FBI profile, which described McNulty so well. Also, I wonder if Kima is the one that turns them in.

Yeah I'm nervous about Kima too. I sure hope she doesnt, though I'm expecting that card house to collapse as well. I've been eyeing the shmuck at the paper as being the weak link there. On another note, I totally dig Gus the editor.
Next week looks like Stanfield's in jail! And yeah, me and my girl were laughing outloud at McNaulty's reaction to the FBI profile. Just classic!

here's a fun fact: back in season 3 when omar was running with tosha and kimmy and one of them got killed in that street shoot out...when bunk goes to the crime scene and those kids are playing and pretending to be omar, cluing bunk into what went down in the shoot out...one of the kids was kenard.
